Help us fight for ethical chocolate.
If we really had a say in corporate politics, we would accept nothing less than 100% living wage chocolate. That's not the economic system we live in, so despite the efforts of outraged groups since the mid-90s, unfortunately, we don't even have a 100% child-free industry, not 50%. Not even 10% of the chocolate available in stores is certified child labor and slave-free. What?!
Not even 10% of the chocolate available in stores is certified child labor and slave-free.
Giant chocolate companies use the simple, cruel strategy of cursory consumer awareness and apathy in the face of easy access to mind-boggling product variety. They're hoping that sudden cravings (and our collective addiction to sugar) will make the choice to reach for the captivating packaging quick and unconscious.
But every chocolate-lover who takes a moment to choose a transparently sourced bar, strengthens the movement towards ethical cacao. We can't thank you enough for taking that moment.
We use donations to run ads via Slave Free Chocolate and other reliable non-profits- they keep us informed about sustainable chocolate legislation and with their broader reach on social media, they help educate consumers and drive chocolate lovers to ethically sourced cacao.
